Expressive and elegant.
How do you want people to feel when experiencing your design?
We would like to give people the same feeling as when buying a larger piece of furniture – a piece that you can identify and connect with. It should not just be a new, commonplace basket for clutter, but rather a piece of furniture that is carefully selected as an integral part of your interior.
Tell us a little more about the material considerations for this design?
The materials basically carried the design process. We knew that we wanted to develop and add more value to MENU’s existing Wire Collection so we began the process by investigating and testing new profiles of metal. Leather was added after the final basket shape was approved in order to give the piece more character and softness – and works as a great complement to the metal.
Are there any sustainable/green aspects to the design?
Our general approach to sustainability is the idea of long-lasting design. We always aim to design pieces that maintain their beauty and function and can be passed through generations.
Founded in Copenhagen in 2008 by Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen and Kasper Rønn, Norm Architects specialise in residential architecture, commercial interiors, industrial design, photography and art direction.
The name, Norm Architects, reflects the group’s emphasis on the importance of drawing inspiration from norms and traditions within architecture and design – particularly the Scandinavian design principles of timeless aesthetics and natural materials, and the modernist values of restraint and refinement.
